The "Devil" In Frank Perrone
by Frank Perrone

Frank Perrone with one of his beloved Devils, Brian Rafalski.

Hello fellow hockey fans! My name is Frank Perrone, and I am the owner of Frank’s Devils Den. Frank’s Devils Den is my collection of New Jersey Devils memorabilia.  I reside in Totowa, NJ. I am 17 years old and a senior in high school at De Paul Catholic High School, in Wayne, NJ.  I play baseball for the De Paul Spartans.

I also play hockey almost every Sunday with my friends at an outdoor roller rink in Oakland, NJ.  I like to call myself the world’s biggest Devils fan!  I have been a season ticket holder for four years and in that time, I have not missed one home game.  Saturday’s game against Florida was game number 189 straight.

My collection began in 1996, when I became a Devils season ticket holder. I used to collect baseball cards, but with the combination of baseball going on strike and the Devils winning the Stanley Cup, I lost interest in collecting them. Then at the end of the 1996-97 hockey season the New Jersey Devils had an end of year closeout sale and were selling game used hockey sticks. I was able to pick up five. That started my addiction. I went home from there and typed in a search engine, ' game used hockey,' and found the Game Worn Jersey Collector site (now gameworn.net).  From there I was able to find the MeiGray Group and the first batch of Devils jerseys to be released.

The envy of any jersey collector!

However, my first jersey was not a Devils jersey, it was a Bobby Holik game worn Dukla/Jihlava Czech jersey I acquired from Byron’s Hockeyland.  Holik is my favorite player as he lived in my town at the time. Since that first jersey I have acquired over 150 jerseys, 20 sticks, 10 pair of skates, and 12 pair of gloves, all of them being New Jersey Devils, all coming from different sources sometimes even from the players themselves.  Each jersey is of a different player, and the ultimate goal of mine is too have one jersey from every player that ever played a game for the New Jersey Devils. There is one jersey I am dying to get.  In 1994-95, when the New Jersey Devils won the Stanley Cup, their Stanley Cup Finals game jerseys were given to the players.  I have found 2 however, that belong to the Devils former equipment man.  I am working real hard to try and pry them away from him, but it may take some time.

As a privilege of being a fan club member, I am able to attend the Devils Fan Club dinners where the players attend, and have met every player.  Whenever I show them a piece of equipment that they wore, they are so happy and surprised.  One Devil that I know for a fact knows about my collection and has visited my website is Petr Sykora.
Petr bought an item off of my neighbor’s store and my neighbor spoke to him about my collection.  Then my neighbor received a phone call from Sykora’s friend and said that Petr and a bunch of the Devils have visited my web page and really enjoy it.  My family and friends do not think that I am crazy, but are astonished by the amount of stuff in my collection.  They do in fact, try to encourage me in reaching my goal.  Finally, I want to thank you for the opportunity to tell you about my collection and myself.  I would also like to let all readers know that if anyone needs help with any information relating to the New Jersey Devils, I will be glad to help.  I can be reached at newjerseydevils@msn.com.
